Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Estimator to join our growing preconstruction team in Denver, Colorado. This role is responsible for leading the estimating effort on complex heavy civil infrastructure projects with a primary focus on wet underground utilities, including water, wastewater, and storm sewer systems. The ideal candidate has extensive experience estimating projects up to $20 million and is proficient in delivering competitive, accurate bids for municipal, industrial, and mission-critical infrastructure.
This position plays a key role in pursuing projects including wastewater treatment plants, water treatment facilities, pump stations, lift stations, underground utility installations, and data center civil infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of the estimating process from bid solicitation through proposal submission.
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for:
- Water mains
- Sanitary sewer
- Storm drainage
- Force mains
- Large-diameter utilities
- Excavation and earthwork
- Concrete structures
- Utility structures and vaults
- Develop complete project cost estimates ranging from $2 million to $20 million.
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents.
- Identify project risks and develop value engineering opportunities.
- Build conceptual estimates from preliminary design documents.
- Collaborate with project management and operations teams during handoff.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and client interviews.
- Maintain historical cost databases and unit pricing.
- Support business development efforts by identifying upcoming bid opportunities.
- Assist in project scheduling and bid strategy development.

Qualifications
Required
- 7+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
- Strong background in wet underground utility construction.
- Experience estimating projects valued up to $20 million.
- Thorough understanding of:
- Earthwork
- Trenching
- Shoring systems
- Dewatering
- Utility installation methods
- Reinforced concrete structures
- Ability to interpret civil engineering plans and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of production rates, labor productivity, and equipment costs.
- Experience working with municipal owners and public bid processes.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Experience estimating wastewater treatment and water treatment facilities.
- Experience with mission-critical or hyperscale data center infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of Colorado municipal agencies and utility standards.
- Familiarity with alternative delivery methods including CM/GC and Design-Build.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $120,000 – $170,000 annually (DOE)
