Responsibilities
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing cost estimates at various stages of design, from conceptual and budget to detailed quantity take-offs.
- Support the review of project documents to understand scope, requirements, and specifications.
- Participate in project meetings and assist with schedule reviews and report preparation.
- Perform basic quantity take-offs, data collection, and cost analysis under supervision.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers.
- Assist in coordinating with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing information.
- Support site visits and field data collection as needed.
- Maintain organized documentation and assist in preparing cost reports and updates.
Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in cost estimating, construction, or a related field (internship experience accepted).
- Basic understanding of construction documents, quantities, and estimating principles.
- Familiarity with MS Office Suite (specifically, Microsoft Excel) and exposure to estimating tools (RSMeans).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Willingness to learn and grow in the cost estimating field.
- Curiosity and interest in continuous learning in AI and comfort experimenting and iterating quickly; uses data to validate ideas and measure impact.
- Commitment to ethical and responsible AI adoption, including privacy-by-design and safe use of tools.
