Job Title: Material Handler

Job Description

This role focuses on safely and efficiently moving metal materials throughout a clean, well-organized warehouse. You will operate a side loader to transport materials between different areas of the plant, wrap metal products for storage or shipment, and support multiple departments as needed. The position requires flexibility, a willingness to learn new tasks, and strong attention to detail to ensure materials move smoothly through the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Move metal materials throughout the warehouse using a side loader and other material handling equipment.
  • Transport metal products to designated areas for wrapping and further processing.
  • Wrap metal materials securely to prepare them for storage, transport, or the next stage of production.
  • Return wrapped materials to the warehouse or move them to the next area of the plant using the side loader.
  • Work across multiple departments during the day and adapt quickly to different workflows and priorities.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and handling materials.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the warehouse.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate material movement and ensure efficient operations.
  • Demonstrate reliability by consistently arriving on time and completing assigned tasks as scheduled.
  • Learn new processes and tasks as needed and apply training to daily work activities.
  • Inspect materials and wrapping for accuracy and quality, ensuring correct handling and placement.

Essential Skills

  • Proven material handling experience in a warehouse or similar environment.
  • Experience operating a forklift or comparable material handling equipment.
  • Previous experience using a side loader to move materials.
  • Experience in the metals industry, particularly handling metal products such as tubes, pipes, bars, sheets, or plates.
  • Strong reliability and consistent attendance.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to support the team.
  • High level of trainability and openness to learning new tasks and processes.
  • Detail-oriented approach to wrapping, moving, and placing materials.
  • Ability to work flexibly across different departments and adapt to changing priorities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with specialty metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, nickel, and titanium.
  • Experience supporting industries such as aerospace, nuclear, fabrication, energy, or transportation is beneficial.
  • Comfort working in a warehouse environment that is clean but not temperature controlled.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with a small team.
  • Ability to explain previous material handling experience clearly and confidently during the interview.

Work Environment

The role is based in an extremely clean warehouse environment with a small team of about eight people, fostering collaboration and strong teamwork. The facility is not temperature controlled, but it features great ventilation and very large industrial fans to maintain airflow and comfort. You will work Monday through Friday, with typical shifts of either 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and there is flexibility within this schedule. Daily work involves operating a side loader and other material handling equipment to move metal materials safely throughout the plant.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
