Job Title: Quality Control Technician

Job Description

The Quality Control Technician supports all aspects of product quality by performing inspections, maintaining calibrated measuring equipment, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. In this role, you develop clear inspection reports and high-quality technical documentation that contribute directly to the reliability and usability of the products. You work closely with engineering, quality, product management, and usability teams to ensure that products meet specifications and are user-friendly. This position is ideal for a well-organized professional with a strong eye for detail who enjoys working with technology and collaborating with others, and who communicates clearly in both oral and written form.

Responsibilities

  • Collect samples from all incoming raw materials and report findings to the Quality Manager.
  • Perform all required batching and finished goods quality testing throughout the day.
  • Verify that all products meet internal company and external customer requirements and specifications.
  • Verify the accuracy and correctness of labels for all finished products.
  • Ensure tolerances are maintained by performing visual and dimensional inspections of finished products.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation and checklists for all inspections performed.
  • Determine the appropriate number of products to inspect using established statistical sampling plans.
  • Visually inspect fine features and measure small-tolerance features using standard inspection tools.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings dimensioned in accordance with ANSI Y14.5.
  • Interpret and validate geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
  • Apply ISO limits and fit tolerances for shaft and hole clearances during inspections.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools appropriately to facilitate accurate inspections.
  • Report inspection findings, including non-conformances, following established processes and informing appropriate stakeholders as required.
  • Inspect electromechanical assemblies such as cables, harnesses, and assemblies in accordance with IPC 620.
  • Coordinate and monitor the calibration status of test equipment and measurement tools to ensure they remain in compliance.
  • Monitor selected production operations to confirm they meet defined quality standards.
  • Provide practical recommendations to assembly or production processes to improve product quality.
  • Assist in production builds as needed to support manufacturing and meet production goals.
  • Independently gather information from relevant personnel to develop, organize, and generate technical work instructions for the assembly of electromechanical devices.
  • Work hands-on with other team members to fully understand the build process and incorporate that knowledge into inspections and documentation.
  • Capture clear, detailed photos of key assembly features and steps to incorporate into technical documentation and work instructions.

Essential Skills

  • Professional experience in quality control within electronics, cables, or machining environments.
  • Hands-on experience using calipers and micrometers for dimensional measurement.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical or mechanical schematics.
  • Experience performing assembly and functional testing to confirm that products operate as intended.
  • Practical knowledge of quality control, inspection, and visual inspection practices.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 quality management principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings dimensioned in accordance with ANSI Y14.5.
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to apply ISO limits and fit tolerances for shaft and hole clearances.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in visual and dimensional inspections.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills for reporting findings and creating documentation.
  • Comfort working with technology, including inspection tools and documentation systems.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple inspections, documentation tasks, and calibration activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience inspecting electromechanical assemblies such as cables, harnesses, and assemblies, ideally in accordance with IPC 620.
  • Familiarity with statistical sampling plans for determining inspection quantities.
  • Experience developing technical work instructions for assembly processes.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with engineering, quality, product management, and usability teams.
  • Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment with multiple assembly stages.
  • Comfort capturing and using photographs to enhance technical documentation and work instructions.

Why Work Here?

You join a relaxed, laid-back culture that values collaboration, open communication, and hands-on problem solving. The facility offers a modern break room with arcade games, a keg-erator, and a full kitchen, creating a space where employees can recharge and connect with colleagues. The organization emphasizes professional growth and offers significant opportunities to develop your skills and advance your career within the company.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large warehouse environment where a new production line is being built, providing exposure to a dynamic and evolving manufacturing setting. You work primarily on the production floor, moving between different stages of the assembly lifecycle to perform testing and inspections as needed. The position is hands-on and involves regular interaction with production equipment, inspection tools such as calipers and micrometers, and electromechanical assemblies including cables and harnesses.
