The Role
The firm is seeking a sharp, detail-oriented Medical Malpractice Attorney to join their Raleigh office. This role involves the defense of physicians, hospitals, and nursing homes in complex professional liability claims.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex defense strategies for medical malpractice and professional liability cases.
- Analyze medical records and consult with medical experts to build technical defense theories.
- Conduct and defend depositions of plaintiffs, treating physicians, and expert witnesses.
- Draft and argue high-level motions, including motions for summary judgment and motions to exclude experts (Daubert/Rule 702).
- Prepare for and second-chair/lead trials in state and federal courts.
- Provide clear, concise reporting to insurance claims professionals and hospital risk managers.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active License to practice law in North Carolina.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years in civil litigation, specifically within Medical Malpractice or complex Insurance Defense.
- Strong Medical Literacy: The ability to digest and translate complex medical issues into legal arguments.
- Resilience: Comfortable in a high-pressure, trial-focused litigation environment.
