Exciting Opportunity at Easterseals NY Project Explore in Valhalla, NY!
We're seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as an IEP Coordinator for a 12-month position.
As a key member of our administration team, the IEP Coordinator will work closely with classroom staff and clinicians to implement student IEPs, ensuring alignment with federal and state guidelines. This collaborative approach involves designing innovative strategies to meet the unique needs of our children, while providing ongoing support to students, staff, and families. The IEP Coordinator will also oversee evaluation coordination, prepare for, and attend CPSE meetings throughout the school year.
What You'll Do
Responsibilities of the IEP Coordinator Include
- Develop and implement IEPs within federal and state guidelines, ensuring that all students in Special Education classes have a tailored and effective plan.
- Ensure the accurate maintenance of student files for students receiving Special Education services.
- Monitor the scheduling, development, and implementation of IEPs within the Easterseals program, adhering to federal and state laws.
- Coordinate the monitoring of Special Education student records, meeting IDEA and state department requirements.
- Prepare and disseminate critical correspondence and notices related to IEP development and student records.
- Manage the inventory of materials and equipment acquired by the Department of Special Education.
- Represent the team at evaluation conferences, interpreting findings to parents as needed.
- Maintain a collaborative working relationship with staff, administrators, teachers, therapists, parents, students, and the community.
Requirements
To be a successful IEP Coordinator, you will possess:
- New York State certification as a Special Education teacher (preferred)
- Proven experience in writing and developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
