GDOT - Senior Dynatrace Engineer (805293)
Pay rate: $71.67 per hour

Hours: 8 hours daily/5 days weekly (hybrid)
Job Summary:
State Agency: Georgia Dept. of Transportation
Under limited supervision, coordinates, designs, and secures computer databases to store, track, and maintain a large volume of critical business information. Serves as highest advanced-level subject matter expert, providing authoritative guidance for professional staff. May also serve in a lead role. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate monitoring, troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, and research for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) across hybrid, multi-cloud, and microservices architectures. This is for the INET Program.
- Monitoring & Observability:
- Configure, maintain, and optimize monitoring solutions using Dynatrace.
- Enable end-to-end visibility across infrastructure, systems, and applications.
- Develop dashboards, alerts, and health checks to ensure system health and reliability.
- Monitor service performance and availability and set alert thresholds to minimize false positives.
- Infrastructure Systems Monitoring:
- Monitor Windows/Linux servers, virtual environments, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Support monitoring of databases, middleware, and network components.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and cloud teams to identify trends and capacity needs.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact production.
- Application Monitoring:
- Use Dynatrace to monitor application performance and transaction flows.
- Support synthetic monitoring and real user monitoring.
- Work closely with application teams to ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage.
- Assist in troubleshooting performance issues at both the application and system level.
- Incident Support:
- Participate in incident response efforts related to performance and availability.
- Provide monitoring insights during troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Identify and close monitoring gaps.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Enhance monitoring standards and documentation.
- Recommend improvements to monitoring configurations and alert strategies.
- Support integration of monitoring tools with IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Experience:
- 5+ years in systems engineering, infrastructure support, or monitoring roles.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Dynatrace or similar APM tools.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, virtualized environments (VMware), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Basic networking understanding (DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing).
- Experience with scripting or automation tools like PowerShell or Bash (preferred).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes or container monitoring.
- Experience with ITIL practices and regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, financial services).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration across teams.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset.
