Overview
Respiratory Therapist – Registered Respiratory Therapist needed for a travel assignment in Newport, Vermont. Start date is 07/01/2026 for a 13-week engagement. Weekly pay ranges from $1,933 to $2,005 per week. There are no guaranteed hours. The shift is a 3x12-hour daytime schedule (6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.), with every other weekend as needed. The role is located at a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital in the Northeast Kingdom. The assignment supports ongoing professional practice with quarterly department education sessions for agency staff and dedicated travel-recruiter support.

Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed respiratory therapies, including inhalation medications, aerosol therapies, and chest physiotherapy as ordered
- Manage and monitor patients on ventilatory support; adjust ventilator settings per protocol and physician orders
- Perform arterial blood gas collection and interpretation when indicated; document results and adjust therapy accordingly
- Assess respiratory status, document findings, and communicate changes to physicians and nursing staff
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and optimize patient care plans; participate in rounds and handoffs
- Maintain infection control standards and equipment sterilization; ensure safe operation and troubleshooting of respiratory care devices
- Attend quarterly education sessions and participate in in-service training as required for agency personnel
- Complete timely documentation in the electronic medical record and comply with hospital policies

Requirements
- Active Respiratory Therapist license with ability to practice in Vermont; RRT credential preferred or eligible
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program
- Relevant clinical experience in acute care or hospital settings; ability to work in a rural, community hospital environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied staff
- Ability to work a 12-hour daytime shift with weekend rotation; BLS certification required (ACLS/other certifications as applicable)
