Job Description

The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all field operations for assigned construction projects while delivering exceptional quality, maintaining project profitability, and meeting or exceeding project schedules. This position serves as the primary field leader and is responsible for managing project execution, safety, subcontractor coordination, client relationships, and financial performance.

The Superintendent represents AMCON in the field and plays a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered according to company standards, client expectations, and contractual requirements. This role requires strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Project Leadership & Execution
  • Manage all field activities for one large project or multiple smaller projects.
  • Lead project execution to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
  • Coordinate daily activities of subcontractors, vendors, and AMCON field personnel.
  • Conduct daily jobsite inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Maintain project schedules and proactively identify and address schedule impacts.
  • Develop and maintain weekly three-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Facilitate project meetings with subcontractors, foremen, owners, and project teams.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, and field records.
  • Manage project punch lists and work-to-complete lists through final project closeout.
Preconstruction & Project Planning
  • Participate in constructability reviews and scope evaluations with Project Managers.
  • Assist in developing procurement and construction schedules.
  • Participate in subcontractor walkthroughs and scope reviews.
  • Verify project compliance with all local, state, federal, owner, and building requirements before project startup.
Client & Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Serve as the primary field representative of AMCON.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and solutions effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Deliver an exceptional client experience through professionalism, responsiveness, and proactive problem solving.
  • Identify opportunities to add value and strengthen client relationships.
Safety Leadership
  • Implement and enforce AMCON's safety program and project-specific safety plans.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Promote a culture of zero incidents and zero safety violations.
  • Address unsafe conditions and behaviors immediately.
Financial Management
  • Support project profitability through effective planning, coordination, and execution.
  • Monitor and track change orders, T&M work, and project impacts.
  • Identify potential cost issues and communicate them promptly to the project team.
  • Complete required project reporting accurately and on time.
Team Development
  • Mentor and develop junior field personnel.
  • Share knowledge and best practices across project teams.
  • Participate in company training and professional development initiatives.
QualificationsRequired
  • Minimum 5 years of construction supervision experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, scheduling, quality control, and safety practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
Preferred
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Experience in commercial, retail, healthcare, industrial, or corporate construction projects.
  • Experience with Procore or similar project management software.
