Job Description
Job Summary
Responsible for managing the day-to-day inventory control responsibilities in an effort to provide support to the department. Coordinating the incoming and outgoing process of commercial and residential trash bins, ensuring that the warehouse has properly stocked and each piece of merchandise is accounted for. The main duty is to coordinate incoming and outgoing process of inventory. Employee may require to work beyond normal business hours at night and/or on weekends.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance; physically present to work.
- Performs after hours work as required (nights and weekends)
- Assist with emergency response as needed by city hall and local EOC.
- Keeping and maintaining records of all stocks and material in the departments to ensure accurate inventory levels at all times.
- Proper storage and handling of the received stock.
- Preparing reports of the inventory balances, price lists, and any shortages.
- Responsible for the retrieval of trash bins from Residential and Commercial canceled accounts and/or delivery of bin for new accounts; and maintaining a proper record of such.
- Ensuring cleanliness and proper organization of the warehouse.
- May be required to assist Lead Mechanic with obtaining quotes for vehicle maintenance on Sanitation units.
- Performs other similar duties as required
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Must have High School diploma, or equivalent (GED)
- One (1) to three (3) years of related work experience to perform such job.
- Applicant must pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen at City's expense.
- Applicant must have current valid Class "B" Driver's License and be insurable.
- Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first three months of hire date.
- Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skill
- Local, state and federal laws and regulations.
- Proficient oral, interpersonal and written communication.
- Computer literacy.
- Recordkeeping
- Simple math calculations.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Work requires moderate intermittent physical strength and effort daily. Work includes lifting, moving, and positioning/loading heavy objects (up to 100 lbs.), pulling, pushing, remain stationary or move about for the full workday may also be involved. Driving in adverse weather troublesome road conditions may be required
- Duties may involve assignments requiring application of hand and eye coordination with finger dexterity and motor coordination. Examples include operating a motor vehicle, operates a personal computer or ascends / descends a ladder.
- Employee constantly performs work outdoors on a variety of public works projects. Employee is exposed to equipment/machinery, noise, odors, chemical fumes, dust, smoke, heat, cold, oil, dirt or grease, and risk of personal injury when working along busy public roads, and sidewalks. Work is continually performed outdoors, regardless of weather conditions.
- Employees must have the ability to make good judgment when making decisions regarding their regular job duties and be able to have the following mental functions: reading, simple math calculations, and withstanding moderate amounts of stress.
