Job Description
Summary/Objective
To ensure the highest possible customer delivery ratings through timely shipment of product, effective utilization of the electronic data interchange (EDI) system, and exceptional communication across all levels of the organization. This role is responsible for supporting employees, ensuring on-time customer shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy and lot control, and leading shipping, receiving, and tote cleaning operations. Success in this position requires clear, timely, and professional communication with employees, customers, and internal departments to coordinate activities, resolve issues, and ensure customer requirements are consistently met while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Essential Functions of the role include:
- Maintain lot integrity and FIFO throughout the warehouse.
- Ensure packaging supplies are available
- Follow material packaging and labeling standards
- Meet truck window times
- Oversee Issuing/returning parts to/from manufacturing
- Comply with all ASN requirements
- Supervise all employees in the shipping department on afternoon shift
- Ability to communicate and follow up with other shifts to continue directing shipping requirements.
- Complete cycle counts to ensure accuracy of inventory quantities
- Determine status of parts that are scheduled to be shipped the following morning
- Ensure trucks are loaded and unloaded in a timely manner
Leadership and Management Competencies
- Ability to work effectively on their own (self-starter)
- Ability to communicate objectives and results to subordinates and management
- Ability to train and educate employees
- Create opportunities for improvement in our warehouse/inventory management
- Serve as the primary assistant to the Shipping Foreman, managing on-site operations and stepping into a leadership role in their absence
Key Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three years of related experience (warehouse shipping and/or inventory management)
- Strong problem-solving
- Knowledge of quality systems
- Solid time management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong in technology, Microsoft Office Applications
Technical Qualifications
- Experience with MRP systems (XA)
- Experience with IATF16949
- Experience with ISO14001 preferred
Physical demands:
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
- Occasionally will be required to work days or midnights to support other shifts
- May be required to work overtime
- May need to work on holidays for customer shipments
Travel required: <1%
