Sigmatech is seeking a well-qualified and motivated Systems & Applications engineer to support our customer on Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. This is a full time office and lab based position, successful candidates will enjoy working with cutting edge technologies, awesome coworkers, and supporting our warfighters.

Job duties include:

  • Defining, analyzing, and translating operational and user requirements into technical system specifications.
  • Develop architectures and design frameworks that ensure interoperability between Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) and other systems, common services, and applications.
  • Leading systems integration efforts that bring together Command and Control hardware, software, and network components into a cohesive operational capability.
  • Support integration, validation, and verification of NGC2 systems and applications to ensure they meet functionality, performance, security, and scalability objectives.
  • Oversee and contribute to the implementation of software applications (either commercial, government-developed, or third party) that support mission command and data flow across networks (both tactical and enterprise).
  • Ensure applications align with standards, protocols, and military interoperability requirements.
  • Assist in the generation, review, and maintenance of system and software requirements documents.
  • Participate in stakeholder and user discussions to refine requirements and incorporate Unit/Soldier feedback (e.g., 25th ID) into technical documentation.
  • Identify defects, interoperability issues, or risks uncovered during technical activities (e.g., Risk Reduction) and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with program offices, operational units, and industry partners to communicate requirements, technical status, and plans.
  • Maintain a high understanding of C2 systems (e.g., Mission Command, tactical data links, or battle command suites).

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • Ten (10) years' total related experience with at least five (5) years' experience in software development, data engineering, or cloud technologies.
  • Currently holds a Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance.
  • Experience with ETL tools, message brokers, and API gateways for use with streaming or event-based data (e.g., Apache NiFi, Kafka, Talend, Informatica).
  • Deep experience with data concepts including structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, data schemas, data storage, and ontologies.
  • Understanding and experience with large data architectures such as Data Mesh, Data Fabric, Data Lakes, and Data Warehouses.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google) to leverage cloud services for scalable and flexible data solutions.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (Python, Java).
  • Experience with data processing and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Kibana).
  • Experience working in an environment that utilizes Agile methodology and framework.
  • Travel: may be short notice and may also exceed 15%
In compliance with Maryland's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $150,000 to $174,000; however, Sigmatech considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, experience, education/training, key skills, location and often contractual requirements.
