Job Description
Summary: The Procurement Intern supports the Procurement team by leading automation-focused projects designed to improve the efficiency and visibility of procurement operations. This role emphasizes process improvement, systems integration, and identifying opportunities to streamline how procurement data is captured, tracked, and reported. The Procurement Intern will work closely with technical and commercial procurement staff to drive meaningful improvements in how the team manages long-lead materials, project commitments, and future requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Procurement Process Automation:
• Lead projects to automate procurement processes, including implementation and integration of an ERP system with existing tools for tracking of:
◦ Long-lead material purchase orders
◦ Project technology selections
◦ Forecasting of future requirements
◦ Tracking of existing commitments
• Identify further opportunities for automation of procurement processes and propose solutions to improve team efficiency and data accuracy.
• Support integration of procurement systems with tools used by other departments to ensure cross-functional visibility and compatibility.
Reporting & Process Improvement:
• Create and integrate PowerBI reports to provide real-time visibility into procurement metrics, including purchase order status, commitment tracking, and forecast data; ensure reports connect to and are compatible with ERP and other existing procurement tools.
• Build procurement systems, logs, and dashboards to support team visibility and process improvement.
• Develop improved systems for tracking pre-construction project schedules and flag procurement-related risks.
• Ensure compatibility and integration with systems in place with other departments.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program (supply chain, business, information systems, or related field preferred).
• Proficiency or coursework in data tools such as PowerBI, PowerAutomate, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP/reporting platforms preferred.
• Familiarity with renewable energy, especially solar or battery energy storage systems, is a plus but not required.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with an interest in process improvement and operational efficiency.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and communicate clearly across cross-functional teams.
