Sheakley is seeking an experienced Safety Manager for a long-term project in Portsmouth, OH supporting the construction of a new water treatment facility and the safe demolition of an existing water plant.
This is a strong opportunity for a safety professional with heavy civil, concrete, underground piping, water/wastewater, or demolition experience who is looking for steady hours, weekly pay, and a 1 to 2 year project.

Hours: 50 to 60 hours per week
Schedule: Monday through Saturday, project dependent
Shift: Day Shift
The Safety Manager will support a complex, multi-phase heavy civil project involving:
Construction of a brand-new water treatment facility
Safe demolition of an existing water plant
Concrete structures
Underground piping systems
Water and wastewater infrastructure
Active construction and demolition site safety oversight
This role is responsible for maintaining OSHA compliance, identifying and mitigating site hazards, supporting field leadership, and helping drive a strong safety culture across all trades on site.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnforce OSHA standards, site safety rules, and company safety policies
Conduct daily site safety inspections and hazard assessments
Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and site safety meetings
Monitor high-risk activities, including demolition, concrete work, excavation, underground piping, and heavy civil operations
Identify unsafe conditions and work with field leadership to correct issues quickly
Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns
Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and inspection records
Partner with project leadership to support continuous safety improvement
OSHA 30 certification required
Minimum 5+ years of construction safety experience
Experience in water/wastewater projects, heavy civil construction, concrete work, underground piping, or demolition
Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety best practices
Ability to work on active construction and demolition sites
Ability to work 50 to 60 hours per week as needed
Strong communication, documentation, and hazard recognition skills
The ideal candidate has hands-on safety experience in heavy civil environments and understands the risks associated with demolition, concrete work, underground utilities, and water/wastewater infrastructure. This person should be confident working directly with field teams, identifying risks early, and taking action before issues become incidents.
