Railroad Construction Laborer (No Experience Required)

Who We Are
Maine Track Maintenance is not a railroad.
We are a railroad construction and maintenance contractor that works for railroads, paper mills, manufacturing facilities, and other businesses that utilize rail service throughout Maine and New England.
Our crews build, repair, and maintain railroad track, switches, crossings, and industrial rail facilities.
No Experience Required
No railroad experience is necessary. We are looking for dependable, hardworking individuals who want to learn a skilled trade and build a career.
Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
Advancement Opportunities
Advancement is based on performance, attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn.
There is no set timeline for wage increases.
Employees who demonstrate strong work ethic and ability can advance quickly. Some employees have advanced from starting rate to full laborer rate within weeks.
We promote equipment operators and foremen from within whenever possible.
Every foreman and operator on our team started as a laborer.
Employees interested in operating CDL equipment may have opportunities to obtain their CDL and advance within the company.
Schedule & Travel
• Regular schedule is four 10-hour days (Monday-Thursday)
• Friday work is often available for overtime
• Most employees work 40-50+ hours per week
• Most work is performed within Maine
• Occasional overnight travel throughout New England may be required
• Company-paid hotels and $35/day meal allowance provided when traveling
Typical Duties
• Install, maintain, and repair railroad track
• Replace ties, rail, joint bars, switches, and other track components
• Operate hand tools and power tools
• Load and unload materials and equipment
• Dig trenches and perform grading work
• Cut and drill rail
• Participate in safety meetings and job briefings
Requirements
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test
• Subject to random drug and alcohol testing, including marijuana
• Must be able to safely perform physically demanding outdoor construction work in all weather conditions
