This contract role focuses on high-volume order administration, data entry, and customer service within a structured, process-driven environment in the life sciences sector. You will manage the full order lifecycle from receipt through fulfillment, accurately enter orders into a database or order management system, and handle customer inquiries via phone and email. You will join a large, collaborative team participating in a coordinated onboarding initiative that supports biological research products used worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Process a high volume of daily customer orders accurately into a database or order management system, ensuring all information is complete and correct.
- Manage the full order lifecycle from initial receipt through fulfillment, monitoring orders to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve order discrepancies or issues quickly to minimize impact on fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
- Handle inbound customer inquiries professionally across multiple channels, including phone calls and emails, while maintaining a high level of responsiveness.
- Navigate customer frustration related to order problems or system issues with patience, professionalism, and clear communication.
- Maintain high standards of data accuracy and integrity in a structured, process-driven data environment.
- Follow established procedures and workflows, adapting to changes associated with a new system implementation.
- Collaborate closely with a large customer service and order administration team to ensure consistent service levels and shared best practices.
- Protect the confidentiality of all customer information and order data in line with company policies.
- Contribute positively to a fast-paced, high-volume work environment by managing workload efficiently and supporting team goals.
- 1–2 years of experience in customer service or order administration.
- Hands-on experience processing high volumes of daily orders into a database or order management system.
- Proven ability to manage the full order lifecycle from receipt through fulfillment.
- Experience handling customer inquiries via both inbound phone calls and email simultaneously.
- Strong data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail in a structured, process-driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve order issues and discrepancies quickly and accurately.
- Professional phone etiquette and polished verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of customer information and order data.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume order management setting.
- Ability to follow established processes and adapt to a new system implementation.
- High school diploma.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, particularly in life sciences or a related field, though not required.
- Background or experience in the life sciences or biotechnology industry preferred.
- Experience working in a structured, process-driven data environment during or after a new system rollout.
- Strong customer service track record, including managing customer frustration and resolving complex order problems.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a large cohort onboarding group of multiple new hires.
- Comfort using database management and order administration tools.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in a high-volume setting.
This role is based onsite in San Diego with a hybrid schedule, working onsite Tuesday through Thursday and remotely on Mondays and Fridays. It is part of a 6‑month contract within a well-established life sciences and biology organization, with the possibility of conversion though it is not guaranteed. You will join a group of 12 new team members who are preferred to onboard together as part of a large team expansion driven by a new system implementation. The environment is fast-paced and high-volume, focused on order management and customer service for products that support biological research worldwide. Multiple shift schedules are available across the 12 positions, including options such as 6:00am–2:30pm, 6:30am–3:00pm, 7:00am–3:30pm, 7:30am–4:00pm, 8:00am–4:30pm, and 8:30am–5:00pm. The workplace is professional and process-driven, with a strong emphasis on data accuracy, system use, and strict confidentiality of customer data and order information. Standard professional attire is expected in the onsite office setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
