Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Flexible Schedule)

 

Are you an experienced physician passionate about addiction medicine and recovery? We are seeking a dedicated Medical Director to oversee medical services within a licensed inpatient substance use treatment program. This is an outstanding opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team while making a lasting impact on individuals beginning their recovery journey.

Position Overview

The Medical Director provides clinical oversight for all medical services within licensed inpatient substance use treatment programs. This physician leader ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality medical care while maintaining compliance with New York State regulations and evidence-based practices.


Working collaboratively with behavioral health professionals, nursing leadership, and administrative teams, the Medical Director will guide treatment planning, policy development, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medical evaluations, diagnoses, and ongoing treatment for patients receiving detoxification and rehabilitation services.
  • Oversee medication-assisted treatment (MAT) protocols and medication management.
  • Collaborate with psychiatry, nursing, and counseling teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Address acute medical concerns and provide consultation on complex clinical cases.
  • Review laboratory findings, diagnostic results, and medical treatment plans.
  • Ensure compliance with evidence-based standards of care and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and update clinical policies, procedures, and treatment protocols.
  • Provide supervision and clinical guidance to physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and medical staff education.
  • Attend interdisciplinary treatment meetings, case conferences, and leadership meetings.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with hospitals, specialty providers, and community referral partners.
  • Oversee public health initiatives, including infectious disease screening, prevention, and patient education.
  • Ensure compliance with OASAS regulations and all applicable state and federal requirements.
  • Review and approve required clinical documentation and medical records.
  • Maintain standards related to infection prevention, tuberculosis screening, HIV, hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, and harm reduction practices.
  • Support ongoing accreditation readiness and quality assurance activities.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO).
  • Active New York State medical license in good standing.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience treating individuals with substance use disorders.
  • Prior medical leadership, physician management, or administrative experience.
  • Board Certified or actively working toward Board Certification in Addiction Medicine.
