Job Description
An established 383-bed acute care hospital in Bradenton is looking for a skilled Medical Technologist to become part of a collaborative laboratory team. Recognized nine times as one of the nation's "100 Top Hospitals" and "100 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals," this facility is dedicated to providing high-quality patient care through excellence in laboratory services.
This position is responsible for performing both routine and STAT laboratory testing across multiple clinical disciplines while ensuring accurate, reliable, and timely results. Working under the direction of laboratory leadership, the Medical Technologist applies technical knowledge and sound judgment to support patient diagnosis and treatment. Additional responsibilities include specimen collection, processing, referral testing, and maintaining compliance with laboratory regulations and quality standards. This role is ideal for someone who is confident working independently and managing all laboratory sections during assigned shifts.
Responsibilities:
Perform laboratory testing in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, and other assigned departments.
Produce accurate and timely test results while following established laboratory procedures.
Collect, prepare, process, and refer specimens as needed.
Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and competency requirements.
Apply critical thinking and independent judgment when handling laboratory testing and workflow.
Work efficiently across multiple laboratory areas with minimal supervision.
Contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on exceptional patient care and service.
Qualifications:
National certification as a Medical Technologist required; ASCP certification preferred.
Active Florida Medical Technologist License required with licensure in at least three laboratory disciplines; licensure in all laboratory areas is preferred.
Associate's degree in Medical Technology with formal medical technology training required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Three or more years of hospital laboratory experience preferred.
Blood Bank experience is preferred.
Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
