Job Description
A respected 383-bed acute care hospital in Bradenton is seeking a dedicated Medical Technologist to join the laboratory team. This position plays an essential role in performing both routine and STAT laboratory testing across multiple disciplines. Working under the guidance of laboratory leadership, the Medical Technologist is responsible for producing accurate and timely test results while maintaining compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The role also includes specimen collection, processing, and referral testing as needed. Candidates should be confident working independently while managing all areas of the laboratory during assigned shifts.
Responsibilities:
Perform clinical laboratory testing in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, and other assigned laboratory areas.
Analyze and report accurate test results within established turnaround times.
Collect, process, and prepare specimens for testing and referral.
Maintain laboratory quality standards and regulatory compliance.
Exercise sound judgment while working independently across multiple laboratory departments.
Support departmental goals related to patient care, service excellence, and quality improvement.
Maintain required licensure and professional competency.
Qualifications:
National certification as a Medical Technologist required; ASCP certification preferred.
Active Florida Medical Technologist License required, with licensure in at least three laboratory disciplines. Licensure in all laboratory areas is preferred.
Associate's degree in Medical Technology with formal medical technology training required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
At least three years of hospital laboratory experience preferred.
Blood Bank experience is preferred.
Ability to work independently and confidently manage all laboratory sections.
