Aerotek is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Technician (Multi-Craft) for a chemical processing company near Batesville, MS. This position is a direct hire opportunity paying $25-$35/hr depending on experience. 1st shift opportunity 8am-4pm.
Job Description
This role focuses on maintaining the integrity and reliable operation of packaging and process equipment in a chemical manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Technician performs full packaging line and process changeovers, ensures proper start-up after changes, and supports production by maximizing equipment uptime and product output. This is a full multi-craft position that combines mechanical and electrical responsibilities on chemical processing, blow molding, and packaging equipment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the integrity, reliability, and safe operation of all packaging and process equipment in the facility.
- Perform complete packaging line and process changeovers, including mechanical and control adjustments, and take responsibility for successful start-up after each changeover.
- Grease, oil, and lubricate equipment according to established schedules and best practices to minimize wear and prevent breakdowns.
- Implement and execute a comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) program on chemical processing, blow molding, and packaging equipment.
- Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential issues, and take proactive steps to correct problems before they cause downtime.
- Assist production teams to enhance and improve product output, efficiency, and line performance through equipment adjustments and improvements.
- Respond promptly to production line and process repair requests to minimize downtime and maintain continuous operations.
- Troubleshoot basic electrical problems on production and process equipment, including identifying faults and performing necessary repairs or replacements.
- Assist with new wire installations and modifications to existing electrical systems as needed to support new equipment or line changes.
- Work with chemical processing equipment, including pumps, motors, and valves, to ensure proper operation and process control.
- Support and perform work on blow mold equipment used to manufacture bottles, ensuring proper operation and quality output.
- Maintain and repair packaging equipment used for products such as bleach and shampoo, including equipment received from other facilities.
- Collaborate with other maintenance and production personnel to prioritize work, share knowledge, and maintain a safe and efficient operation.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when working with chemical processing equipment, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and changes to equipment as required by plant procedures.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Maintenance experience in chemical manufacturing is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with blow mold equipment is a significant plus.
- Strong mechanical skills with hands-on experience in maintenance repair of production and process equipment.
- Proficiency in electrical maintenance, including basic electrical troubleshooting and repair.
- Experience working with pumps, motors, valves, and related chemical processing equipment.
- Ability to perform and manage preventive maintenance tasks and programs.
- Skill in troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems.
- Skill in troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic systems.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and PLC control in an industrial environment.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical troubleshooting issues on production equipment.
- Demonstrated capability to support full multi-craft responsibilities, including both mechanical and electrical tasks.
- Ability to perform complete line and process changeovers and manage start-up after changes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to repair requirements.
- Ability to work effectively on a first shift schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior maintenance experience in facilities that manufacture bleach or similar chemical products is beneficial.
- Experience working with packaging equipment for household products such as bleach or shampoo is an advantage.
- Familiarity with equipment transferred from other large manufacturing operations is helpful.
- Comfort working in a start-up environment where processes, lines, and equipment are being added and optimized.
- Ability to collaborate with production staff and other maintenance personnel to improve line performance and product output.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to performing thorough preventive maintenance and documentation.
Work Environment
The position follows a first shift schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., working directly on the production floor around active chemical processes and high-speed packaging equipment. The work involves hands-on mechanical and electrical tasks, including PLC-related activities, and requires adherence to plant safety practices appropriate for a chemical manufacturing setting.
