Associate Attorney
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our plaintiff-side personal injury team. The ideal candidate will represent clients in auto accident and premises liability matters, manage a docket of cases from intake through resolution, and pursue favorable outcomes through negotiation and litigation. This role requires strong legal research and writing, effective client communication, and a demonstrated ability to handle courtroom responsibilities when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of plaintiff personal injury matters, including auto accidents and premises liability claims, from intake through settlement or trial
- Conduct factual and legal investigation, obtain and analyze medical records, police reports, witness statements, and other evidence
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, demand letters, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents
- Participate in and take depositions, prepare witnesses, and coordinate with experts
- Develop case strategies, evaluate exposure and damages, and negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and insurance carriers
- Prepare for and try cases in court when necessary, including jury selection, opening statements, witness examination, and closing arguments
- Work closely with paralegals, investigators, and support staff to meet case milestones and deadlines
- Maintain accurate case files, client communications, and billing records; manage deadlines and e-filing requirements
- Provide clear, compassionate counsel to clients and keep them informed of case developments
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing
- 2+ years of civil litigation experience, preferably representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters (auto accidents and premises liability highly preferred)
- Demonstrated experience with motion practice, depositions, discovery, and courtroom litigation; trial experience a plus
- Strong legal research, analytical, and persuasive writing skills
- Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in plain language and maintain client trust and confidence
- Proven negotiation skills and experience handling settlement discussions with insurance carriers
- Ability to manage a busy caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines
- Familiarity with e-filing systems, case management software, and standard office technology; comfort using legal research tools
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel locally for client meetings, depositions, and court appearances
