Job Description
We’re looking for a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team and keep our heavy‑duty waste collection fleet running safely and efficiently. If you take pride in diagnosing tough problems, performing high‑quality repairs, and working with modern diagnostic tools, this role offers stability, strong pay, and room to grow.
🔧 What You’ll Do- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy‑duty waste collection trucks
- Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, fluid checks, brake work, and tire service
- Conduct detailed inspections to identify potential failures before they become costly repairs
- Document all work performed, parts used, and repair times using fleet maintenance software
- Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and company procedures
- Communicate effectively with drivers, supervisors, and fellow mechanics to keep the fleet operating smoothly
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of diesel engines
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
- Experience performing routine and advanced maintenance on heavy‑duty vehicles
- Physical stamina to handle hands‑on, physically demanding work
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
- Comfort using fleet maintenance or repair‑tracking software
- High school diploma or GED
- Formal training in diesel mechanics or a related field
- 2+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic or technician
- Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, brake systems, and engine repair
- MACK truck experience is a strong plus
$25–$35+/hr, depending on experience and certifications

This is an in‑shop role with core hours between 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM, plus occasional Saturday shifts. You’ll work with modern diagnostic tools, heavy‑duty equipment, and a team committed to keeping the fleet in top condition.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
