Job Summary and Qualifications
The Employee Health Specialist functions as an occupational health nurse for all employees, contract staff, volunteers, students, and physicians of Riverside Community Hospital by utilizing clinical expertise, decision making and independent judgement to assure compliance with regulatory requirements. This role also provides first aid and utilizing physical assessment skills to evaluate those which have sustained a work-related injury/illness or exposure. This role requires a thorough knowledge of the California Worker’s Compensation Labor Code, reporting requirements, OSHA determination and the use of judgement in the treatment, referral, authorization for certain tests/treatments and ongoing follow up care for a claim until closure. The Employee Health Specialist in highly involved in the case management of open claims and collaborates with the EHS Medical Director, Third Party Claims Administrator, treating providers, Human resources and all department Managers and Directors. The position requires collaboration demonstrating a work.
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred
- Completed coursework in Workers’ Compensation law and administration preferred.
- Employee Health related courses.
- Current CA RN License
- Current BCLS Certification
- At least five (5) years of experience in a hospital environment.
- One year in hospital in employee health or occupational health setting preferred.
