About this job
Job Description
Labor & Employment · 4–8 Years · California Bar Admission Required
For a mid-to-senior associate, the transition from execution to ownership is the critical pivot. This national firm is expanding its Southern California presence, offering an environment where you are expected to drive strategy on sophisticated matters rather than simply bill hours behind a senior partner. It is a sophisticated platform designed for an attorney ready to command significant litigation while actively counseling corporate clients.
-
The WorkYou will manage a robust portfolio of management-side labor and employment matters, balancing high-stakes litigation with preventative compliance:
- Complex Litigation: Take a primary role in defending wage-and-hour class actions and PAGA claims, alongside single-plaintiff discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination suits.
- Active Advocacy: You will not be relegated to document review. This role requires an attorney proficient in taking and defending key depositions, drafting dispositive motions, and leading trial preparation.
- Strategic Counseling: Partner directly with employers to navigate complex California compliance, risk mitigation, and workplace policies. Experience with restrictive covenants or traditional labor matters is highly valued and will be fully utilized.
Who This Is For
This role is structured for a California-admitted attorney with four to eight years of dedicated labor and employment experience. It will suit a senior associate feeling bottlenecked at an Am Law 100 firm who wants a clearer run at partnership, or a talented practitioner at a regional boutique looking to scale their practice onto a well-regarded national platform.
The Platform
The firm provides the resources, multi-state footprint, and institutional client base of a national practice, combined with the entrepreneurial agility of a growing Los Angeles office. It is a culture that rewards autonomy, values distinct perspectives, and invests heavily in lateral integration to ensure you are positioned to succeed from day one.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $215,000 to $255,000, commensurate with experience and class year.
The firm offers a comprehensive, market-leading benefits package including:
- Premium medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) retirement plan with profit-sharing contributions
- Generous paid time off and parental leave
- Life and disability insurance
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Dedicated budget for professional development and bar association involvements
