Job Description
Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee commercial construction projects from groundbreaking through completion. This individual will be responsible for managing daily field operations, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, ensuring quality workmanship, and promoting a safe, productive job site. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with excellent communication skills who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day field operations on assigned construction projects.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and field personnel.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to plans and specifications.
- Develop and maintain project schedules while proactively addressing delays or conflicts.
- Conduct daily site walks to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
- Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Lead subcontractor meetings and coordinate project activities with the Project Manager.
- Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, job logs, and project documentation.
- Coordinate inspections and ensure work complies with local building codes and client requirements.
- Identify and resolve field issues quickly while minimizing schedule impacts.
- Manage material deliveries, equipment utilization, and site logistics.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent overseeing commercial construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, sequencing, and building systems.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors simultaneously.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and conflict resolution abilities.
- Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Experience
- Commercial, industrial, institutional, or public works construction experience.
- Ground-up project experience.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Experience coordinating with owners, architects, and municipal inspectors.
