Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking Kentucky-licensed Gastroenterologists for a 12-month locum tenens assignment in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. This clinic-based role involves general GI procedures, including ERCP support, within a pleasant and relationship-focused practice environment, offering consistent weekday hours and offsite call coverage.

Opportunity Highlights

• Locum Tenens position in Prestonsburg, Kentucky
• Clinic hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Shared offsite call with response times: emergency within 30 minutes, routine within 12 hours
• Offsite response expected 1–2 times per week for active bleed cases
• Support staff includes APP support
• EMR: Meditech
• Procedural volume: approximately 12–14 procedures per day
• Focus on general GI with ERCP support for moderate complexity cases
• Patient population: often non-compliant, sick patients with family members present

Schedule Details

• Clinic hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Call: shared with the other provider, offsite response within 30 minutes for emergencies, 12 hours for routine consults
• After-hours call: 1–2 times weekly for active bleed

Clinical Scope

• Diagnostic and therapeutic upper endoscopies (EGD)
• Colonoscopies with or without polypectomy
• ERCP support for mid-level/moderate complexity cases
• Esophageal, duodenal, or luminal stent placement
• Argon plasma coagulation
• Biopsies of esophagus, stomach, small bowel, and colon
• Non-variceal hemostasis (upper and lower)
• Esophageal dilation (balloon, bougie, Savary with guidewire)
• Foreign body removal via EGD
• Flexible sigmoidoscopy
• GI motility studies and 24-hour pH monitoring
• Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG)
• Management of active GI bleeding and routine consults

Practice Environment
This opportunity is based within a well-established gastroenterology practice supporting a patient population that often presents with complex, non-compliant, and sick patients. The environment emphasizes relationship-building and communication skills, with APP support provided. The practice utilizes Meditech EMR and offers a stable, pleasant clinical setting.

• Active Kentucky medical license
• MD degree (board certification or eligibility not specified)
• DEA Registration (not specified)
• Experience with general GI procedures and ERCP support preferred
• Strong communication and relationship skills
