Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every Other Weekend | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for higher acuity medical-surgical patients with diagnoses including stroke, seizures, post-operative neuro surgeries, and Level 2 trauma
• Care for Level 1 trauma post-ICU patients as well as patients with DKA, renal failure, and general post-operative needs
• Perform thorough neurological assessments and monitor patient status using telemetry
• Manage surgical drains and provide comprehensive post-surgical care
• Apply critical thinking skills to rapidly changing patient conditions in a high-acuity environment
• Float to other medical-surgical and telemetry units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for the state of Indiana
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in a relevant clinical setting
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification (may be obtained during the first week of orientation)
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this travel position

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a neuro medical-surgical or telemetry unit
• Familiarity with drain management and post-operative neuro surgical care
• Experience caring for stroke and seizure patients in an acute care setting
