Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Post-Op)

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a post-operative Medical/Surgical unit specializing in post-op GI and wound care
• Manage patients with diagnoses including pancreatitis, GI bleeds, bowel obstructions, bowel perforation, wound infections, diverticulitis, and trauma-related conditions
• Support and monitor patients following complex surgical procedures such as Whipple, esophagectomy, colectomy, bariatric surgery, hepatic resection, and related operations
• Operate and manage specialized equipment including PEG/PEJ tubes, PCA pumps, wound vacs, JP drains, nephrostomy tubes, and ostomy appliances
• Deliver post-operative wound care and infection management in accordance with facility protocols
• Participate in emergency response team duties as assigned by unit management in the event of an emergency event

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical nursing with dedicated post-operative unit experience
• Must have experience working full-time on a post-op unit
• At least one completed travel contract required prior to submission
• Active Compact or Louisiana RN license in hand at time of submittal
• Current AHA certifications required
• Up-to-date NURSYS report (within 4 weeks of submission date) required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with colostomy care and surgical drain management
• Familiarity with post-operative GI surgical procedures and associated patient monitoring
• CPI certification or willingness to obtain prior to start date
