Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians to develop and evaluate individualized plans of care aimed at returning patients to optimal health.
• Provide direct bedside nursing care and carry out medical orders in the ICU setting.
• Delegate and coordinate tasks and assignments for nursing assistants and ancillary personnel, functioning as a team leader to ensure appropriate patient placement and care delivery.
• Identify and facilitate ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with appropriate resource persons and participating in planning conferences.
• Integrate evidence-based knowledge into practice and communicate relevant clinical information effectively to the care team.
• Precept and mentor new employees and students while supporting professional growth through educational opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan.
• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required.
• Ability and willingness to float to the Emergency Department and Step-Down units as needed.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required.
• Current ACLS certification required.
• Current NIHSS certification required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Certifications in TCAR, TNCC, CCRN, or SCRN are a plus.
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred.
• Neurosurgical experience preferred.
• Open heart experience preferred.
