Key Responsibilities

• Assess the needs of each surgical patient and develop, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care, with patient safety as the top priority.
• Supervise activity within the operating room, anticipate and coordinate schedule changes, assemble necessary equipment and supplies, and monitor the sterile field.
• Assist anesthesia as needed and provide leadership to the OR team throughout surgical procedures.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, the OR team, supervisors/managers, and ancillary departments.
• Participate in staff development through preceptorship, in-services, educational meetings, staff meetings, and continuing education opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of CVOR experience required.
• Open heart experience required.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Willingness and ability to float to General OR required.
• Active Michigan RN license (verified through LARA and/or Nursys) required.
• Active American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Epic EMR.
• Strong leadership and communication skills within a surgical team environment.
