As a Carpenter 1 with the Department of Human Services, you will help create and maintain the spaces that support vital services at Ebensburg Center. This role focuses on building, repairing, and maintaining structures throughout the facility to ensure safe and efficient operations. As a Carpenter 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Structural Repair: Maintain and fix floors, windows, roofs, locks, furniture, and other building features
- Construction Tasks: Lay tile, brick, stone, and concrete to build or improve structures as needed
- Tool Operation: Use manual and pneumatic tools to break and remove materials during repair work
- Preventive Maintenance: Inspect and service doors, windows, floors, roofs, and equipment to avoid breakdowns
- New Installations: Install new doors, windows, floors, locks, and other materials to support facility needs
- Equipment Support: Repair furniture and assist in building program equipment to extend its lifespan

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work a rotating schedule that includes holidays and one weekend a month. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
- Travel and overtime: As needed
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Building Trades Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Three years of experience in the construction, installation, repair, restoration, or maintenance of structures and articles made from wood, composite, and wood substitute materials; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
