Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manageris responsible forproviding technical management and program leadership to ensurefullcompliance with environmental, health and safety (EHS) requirementsand local,stateand federal laws,standards,professional codesand internal EHS requirements.The EHS Manager will provide leadership to developand implementinitiativesand processes toestablishand maintain a healthy, safe,compliant,and accident-free work environment.They leadthe implementation and direction ofsite-wideEHSinitiativessuch as corporateand site-specificEHSgoals, training, incident investigation,auditingand performance evaluation for the site.Secures engagement and buy-in among site employees and leadership.This position willalso driveasustainableenvironmentally compliant and solution driven operation.This position is also one of the key membersparticipatinginthe site'sEHSLeadership Teamsincluding Emergency Response and applicable safetycommittees.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop, implement, and manageplansto train managers, supervisors and employees in worksite safety practices, incident prevention,andEHSMSmanagement.

  • Ensureadherancewith employee occupational health and safety and environmental laws, rules and regulations, applicable companypoliciesand procedures

  • Leads the implementation and management ofsite-wideinitiativessuch as corporaterequirementsincluding process safety, training, incident investigation,auditingand performance evaluation for the site.Additionally,toidentifyexisting or potential EHS hazards and liabilities,determinecorrective or preventative measures whereindicated, and manage the resolution ofidentifiedissues.

  • Management of Change (MOC).Support the design review of new projects and modifications to existing processes and facilities toidentifyand resolve EHS issues, and incorporate lessons learned from prior projects or alerts shared.Lead efforts to secure all required environmental permits,licensesand authorizations associated with projects and modifications.

  • Manage incident investigation and reporting of accidents andauditingor inspectionincidents, as necessary.Ensure the preparation ofinvestigationreports required by regulatory agencies asrequired.

  • Coordinate responsive communication with governmental agencies including information requests, investigations/inspectionsand notices of violation. Provide support duringinvestigationsandinspectionsofplantand office inspections by regulatory agencies.

  • Prepare EHS metric reports that track the facility's EHS performance.

  • Managessite responsibilitiesregardingISO14001 and 45001EHSMS, coordinating the internal audits and supporting the maintenance of the system for the site.

  • Mustdemonstrateeffective communication, working relationship development, and the ability to influence site management, front line supervision,andemployees. An emphasis on cross-functional collaboration, teamwork, and the ability to motivate outside third parties.

  • Manage EHS operations in alignment with company business strategy, and within assigned budget and manage risks to avoid unplanned impacts to company operations and Annual Operating Plan (AOP);

  • Work with corporate EHS to develop ormodify,planand implement site environmental health,safetyand security procedures to ensure alignment with Corporate EHS Policies,goalsand objectives.Ensure the site is responsible andcomplies withapplicable EHS governmental regulations, legal requirements and handles all contact withappropriate agencies;

  • Communicate the EHS management system structure and strategy to all departments;

  • Communicate the role each employee plays in satisfying theEHSrequirements;

  • Drivecross-functionalcontinuous improvement activities withsite leadership,operators, technicians,engineersand front-line employees to createshared EHS values;

  • Manage site environmental health and safety teams, including the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the site Safety, Ergonomic and Environmental Committee. Select,developand evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function;

  • Ensure required regulatory and internal performance metric reports aresubmittedaccurately and within established deadlines;

  • Develop and oversee company EHS training for site employees;

  • Serve aspointof contact with agency and governmental emergency personnel.

  • Site EHS Specialists and Co-Ops/Internswill report to the EHS Manager

Qualifications (Education, Training, Experience,Knowledge, Skills,Physical Requirements):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in occupational safety& health,chemistry,engineering, environmentalscienceor other EHS-related technical discipline from an accredited college/university isrequired.

  • Aminimumseven(7) years,(ten + yearspreferred)provenEHS leadership experience with a focus on industrialchemicalfacility manufacturing. Experience working with OSHA, US EPA,state-leveland localordinanceand regulations.Aminimum offive (5)years' provenexperiencein ahighly dynamic production and R&D environment developing and manufacturing chemical products.

  • Knowledge of Federal and State Safety laws, regulations,codesand best management practices

  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist),Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)or similar professional credential(s) area plus.

  • Demonstratedexpertisein the successful delivery of outstanding EHS results through effectiveEHSdevelopment,implementationand management.

  • Strongcross-functional"team building" skills, including the ability to influence and motivatesiteleaders and employees through collaborative engagement andbuildingandmaintainingrelationships.

  • High energy,motivationand commitment to take personal ownership of issues and drive them to exceptional outcomes.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to effectively communicate information to a broad range of people and audiences as circumstances dictate.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical reports and regulatory documents/standards, make soundjudgmentsand offer effective solutions.

  • Ability to successfully manage and develop personnel, 3rd party consultants,and work in a team environment.

  • Key performance indicators such as recordable injury rate, lost and restricted workdays, proactive EHS performance metrics; and execution of effective resolution to findings and recommendations from audits,inspectionsand investigations;

  • The development of a strong safety culture wheresite leadership and all site employees embrace and live the shared values of EHS responsibility, and partiallyevidencesby employee focus groups and survey results;

  • Consistently finds ways to add new value and mitigate risk by engaging employees in JSA's, safe work permits, hazard assessments; application of our Code of Business Ethics and Company policies in all our operations;

  • Sets SMART goals and is dedicated to achieving themthrough site road maps and documented strategies and tactics. Prioritizes actions based on team and businessobjectivesand changing operating environments.
