DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on investigating allegations related to laws, rules, and standards of conduct across multiple regulatory areas. The role supports the mission of the Pennsylvania Department of State by helping ensure fair and lawful practices. As a Professional Conduct Investigator 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Investigative Work: Conduct investigations by gathering facts, interviewing individuals, and reviewing evidence
- Compliance Checks: Perform inspections to determine adherence to laws, rules, and regulations
- Report Preparation: Prepare clear written reports that explain findings with accuracy and detail
- Confidential Handling: Protect sensitive information related to interviewees and case materials
- Training Support: Provide guidance to less experienced staff when requested by leadership
- Legal Testimony: Appear at hearings and judicial proceedings to present findings as a witness

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time at the discretion of the program area and supervisors based on operational needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years as a Regulatory Enforcement Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Five years of investigative experience; or
- One year of investigative experience and a bachelor's degree; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that included one year of investigative experience.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.
