Job Description:
  • The Quantitative Biosciences department is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative individual to join the in vivo Pharmacology team based in West Point, PA.
  • The successful candidate will support a team of experienced scientists to execute pharmacological studies in various in vivo disease models.
  • Areas supported include infectious disease, immunology, and neuroscience.
  • This is a highly collaborative position requiring not only proficiency in both in vivo and ex vivo laboratory techniques, but strong communication and organizational skills to support and coordinate complex animal studies.
  • The successful candidate should be able to pick up and master new and complex in vivo techniques quickly; but equally should demonstrate strong aptitude, initiative, and a high level of scientific curiosity. The position requires some off-hours and weekend work.
Responsibilities:
  • Hands on execution of various in vivo techniques to support pharmacological studies including but not limited to:
  • Rodent handling and dosing (oral gavage, intranasal, intratracheal, intravaginal delivery and IP, IM, IV, s.c. injections)
  • Blood sampling (tail vein bleeds, submandibular bleed, terminal cardiac puncture)
  • Bronchoalveolar lavage, fecal sample collection, vaginal swab collection
  • Necropsy of various tissues for processing and histology (lung, colon, reproductive tract, brain, etc.)
  • Hands on execution of various in vitro and ex vivo wet lab activities including but not limited to:
  • Aseptic technique
  • Formulations preparation
  • Bacterial culture
  • Tissue and blood sample processing
  • Ability to adapt, learn, and master new or more complicated in vivo techniques
  • Some off-hours and weekend work required
  • Logistical coordination of studies: scheduling support staff, arranging formulation pickup and sample drop off
  • Demonstrate strong aptitude, initiative, and a high level of scientific curiosity
  • Remain compliant with all company required trainings and safety regulations
  • Ensure high quality data generation and proper documentation of experimental designs, protocols, and findings
  • Work independently and collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams.
