Instructional Assistant - El Paso, IL

Minimum 6 months Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Support student achievement as a paraprofessional in a dynamic, contract-based role near El Paso, IL. This position primarily involves working alongside a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), providing essential facilitation assistance. The opportunity is itinerant, requiring travel within the school district to support students in various settings. Collaboration and adaptability are key as you may occasionally be reassigned to offer support where needed throughout the district.

Key qualifications and desired experience:

• Prior experience as a school paraprofessional or in a similar educational support role
• Familiarity working with students with visual impairments is highly valued
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a remote TVI and other educational staff
• Flexibility and willingness to travel between school sites as part of an itinerant assignment
• Ability to quickly adapt to new environments and student needs
• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or relevant certifications preferred

Primary responsibilities:

• Provide direct support to students under the guidance and instruction of the remote TVI
• Assist in the facilitation of lessons, activities, and adaptations for students with visual impairments
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement individualized education plans and accommodations
• Support students’ independence and access to curriculum and classroom activities
• Assist with data collection and reporting on student progress as required by the TVI
• Step in to help in other paraprofessional capacities within the district as needed
