Position Overview
\n The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care for a designated caseload using the nursing process, applying clinical judgment, current nursing practice, and available resources within the hospital's standards of care. This role supports the Med/Surg Overflow unit, working closely with Health Care Technicians (HCTs) and the interdisciplinary care team to deliver safe, timely, and patient-centered care.
Essential Functions

- Conduct bedside shift report and verify patient room safety at each shift change \n
- Complete patient assessments, interpret vital signs, and ensure timely physician order completion \n
- Develop and update individualized care plans based on patient and family needs \n
- Administer medications following the 5 Rights (Right Patient, Medication, Route, Dose, Time) \n
- Delegate and oversee patient care tasks assigned to HCTs \n
- Maintain documentation in accordance with Med/Surg RN standards \n
- Uphold patient safety priorities, including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and isolation precautions \n
- Respond promptly to patient call lights and coordinate timely care \n
- Support efficient admission/discharge processes, including Observation status patients \n
- Communicate effectively across the care team to support coordinated, safe patient care \n
Required Skills & Experience

- Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience \n
- Core competencies: nursing, patient assessment, care planning, nursing interventions, patient care procedures \n
Education
\n- \n
- Required: ASN \n
- Preferred: BSN \n
Required Certifications & Licensure

- Active Illinois RN license in good standing \n
- BLS (American Heart Association) \n
- ACLS (American Heart Association) \n
