MUST HAVE EPIC EXPERIENCE

\n POSITION SUMMARY

\n Responsible to Unit Director for overall nursing practice. Includes the responsibility for assessment of childbearing women (adolescence to middle adulthood), neonates, and family needs, the development of a plan of care to meet those needs, implementation of nursing interventions, and evaluation of nursing care based on outcomes for the population served.

\n MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

\n Education:

\n Completion of an accredited registered nurse program required
\n Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

\n Effectively functions as a team member and as a liaison between patient and staff.
\n Supports and encourages harmonious communication skills.
\n Job requires strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
\n Communicates in highly professional manner at all times.
\n Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill people; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, and co-workers at all times.
\n License/Certification/Registration:

\n Current Pennsylvania RN licensure.
\n Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.
\n Holds the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification and renews NRP every two years.
\n Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) renews ACLS every two years.
\n SUPERVISION RECEIVED

\n Receives minimal supervision from the Director, Women & Children’s Services.

\n ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

\n 1. Assists women and infants to attain and maintain optimum health by:

\n a. Assessing patient and family's developmental level, health status, and health history including sexual and reproductive history and identified learning needs.
\n b. Performing initial assessment and stabilization of the neonate.
\n c. Developing a plan of care based on identified physical and learning needs.
\n d. Teaching self-care and/or the care of the newborn to patients and families.
\n 2. Assists women and families to achieve and maintain a balance between the personal growth needs of the individual family members and optimum family functioning by:

\n a. Considering data relating to role relationships and interaction patterns of families when developing a plan of care.
\n b. Promoting understanding of influence of family relationships on health status.
\n 3. Identifies and intervenes with vulnerable patients and families-at-risk to prevent potential developmental and health problems by:

\n a. Providing support and collaborating with other health care disciplines in the treatment and referrals of families at risk.
\n b. Facilitating interaction between family members to promote bonding process.
\n 4. Promotes an environment free of hazards to reproduction, growth and development, wellness, and promotes recovery from illness.

\n 5. Assists patients and families to understand and cope with women's health issues and childbirth.

\n 6. Accepts responsibility and accountability for maintaining knowledge, skills, and competency in the care of women and infants by:

\n a. Maintaining an awareness of professional issues.
\n b. Updating knowledge and clinical skills on an ongoing basis.
\n NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

\n Performs related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Patterns Hiring Job ID #297203--14. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
