Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a difference in students’ lives as a contract Special Education Teacher, supporting a diverse classroom in a positive, collaborative school environment. Located near Rio Vista, CA, this full-time role runs from August 3, 2026, through June 7, 2027, following a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, with early release each Wednesday. You’ll lead a 5/6 combo class while working closely with school staff, families, and support personnel.
Key Qualifications:
- Active California teaching credentials required
- BILA (formerly BCLAD) authorization strongly preferred
- Must be bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Experience in Special Education and/or General Education
- Strong classroom management and differentiation skills
- Passion for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Enthusiasm in supporting culturally and linguistically diverse learners
Core Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized lesson plans for a 5th/6th grade combination class
- Provide targeted instruction and accommodations in a supportive setting
- Communicate regularly with families and support providers, utilizing Spanish as needed
- Adapt teaching materials to meet students’ unique needs
- Assess student progress, document outcomes, and update learning goals
- Spend approximately 6.5 hours per week dedicated to planning and preparation
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
- Collaborate during early-out Wednesdays and staff development activities
