Position Overview
An excellent locum tenens opportunity is available for a Board Certified Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician seeking scheduled weekend hospital call coverage in North Carolina.
This assignment offers predictable weekend blocks, manageable delivery volume, and the support of ECU Health’s regional transfer network. The physician will provide inpatient labor and delivery coverage, perform vaginal and cesarean deliveries, evaluate obstetrical emergencies, and support safe community-based OB/GYN care.
This is an ideal opportunity for a physician seeking supplemental weekend income with a defined schedule, low-volume hospital setting, Epic EMR, no ICU responsibilities, and no code response requirements.
Provider Compensation: $3,250 per 24-hour hospital call shift
Provider Pay Ranking: Top 15% of comparable North Carolina OB/GYN weekend locum tenens opportunities.
Assignment Highlights- Board Certified OB/GYN needed
- Scheduled weekend hospital call coverage
- Friday 8:00 AM – Monday 8:00 AM coverage blocks
- Six total weekend blocks currently requested
- 100% inpatient clinical care
- 25-bed community hospital
- Low-volume 7-bed Emergency Department
- Approximately 28–34 deliveries per month
- Epic EMR
- No ICU responsibilities
- No code response responsibilities
- Must be comfortable with vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Must respond to the hospital within 20 minutes
- ECU Health Air and ECU Health Ground Support available for immediate transfer when needed
- Orientation completed the day before the first shift and/or the morning of the first shift
- Joint Commission Certified staffing partner

The physician will:
- Provide hospital call coverage for OB/GYN patients
- Manage labor and delivery patients
- Perform vaginal deliveries
- Perform cesarean deliveries
- Evaluate obstetrical emergencies
- Admit obstetrical patients as needed
- Round on assigned hospitalized patients
- Provide inpatient OB/GYN consultation
- Coordinate transfers for higher-acuity patients when needed
- Communicate with nursing, anesthesia, emergency medicine, and hospital leadership
- Document patient care in Epic EMR
- Maintain timely response to the hospital within 20 minutes while on call
Candidates should be comfortable with:
