Role snapshot
  • Impact: Keep multiple CNC machines running efficiently while meeting quality, safety, and throughput targets.
  • Focus: Horizontal machining center setups, tool adjustments, and in-process verification.
  • Shift: 2nd shift operation for steady production cadence.
Core responsibilities
  • Configure, set up, and operate CNC horizontal machining centers for production runs.
  • Stage and exchange fixtures, workholding devices, tools, and programs per job router.
  • Optimize offsets/cutting tools and perform necessary adjustments to sustain tolerances.
  • Follow standard work, record run data, and communicate deviations promptly.
  • Measure parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges; interpret readings to maintain spec.
  • Practice safe operations and perform routine machine maintenance/troubleshooting.
  • Support additional tasks assigned by leadership.
QualificationsEducation & Training
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical/vocational coursework in machining, manufacturing, or CNC preferred.
  • NIMS or related CNC certification is advantageous.
Experience
  • 1–3 years operating CNC equipment; horizontal machining center experience preferred.
  • Background in setups, tooling changes, and reading/interpreting CNC programs.
  • Comfort with precision inspection tools for dimensional checks.
Skills
  • Blueprint and technical drawing literacy; able to follow work instructions.
  • Competent math and mechanical reasoning.
  • Familiarity with machine maintenance and typical troubleshooting.
  • Computer-literate for program loading and production data entry.
