Position Summary:

The Radiology Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical, operational, regulatory, and staffing functions of the Radiology Department. This position provides direct supervision to Radiology Technologists and support staff while ensuring high quality patient care, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and departmental performance.

In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Radiology Manager is expected to maintain an active clinical role by performing mammography exams and X-rays, while supporting daily patient care and departmental workflow needs.

This role collaborates closely with providers, Population Health, Boston Medical Center, and regulatory agencies to ensure quality standards, patient access, follow up coordination, accreditation readiness, and operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

Clinical Operations
• Provide clinical supervision and operational oversight for radiology staff and daily department activities.
• Perform mammography exams and X-rays according to department policies and procedures.
• Support daily clinic operations and provide direct patient care coverage as needed.
• Apply principles of radiation protection and ensure imaging quality standards are maintained.
• Evaluate radiographs for technical quality and accuracy.
• Interview patients and document clinical history appropriately.
• Ensure patients understand imaging procedures and provide patient education as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and provide compassionate patient centered care.
• Coordinate patient registration and scheduling workflows with Admitting and Radiology departments.
• Review daily imaging schedules and ensure required documentation and history sheets are completed.
• Enter mammography orders into BMC Epic and support patient registration workflows.
• Answer department phones, assist callers, schedule mammograms, and conduct outreach to no show patients.
• Prepare patients for imaging procedures, position patients appropriately, and provide examination instructions.
• Ensure imaging rooms are clean, stocked, and organized.
• Send radiographs to the Radiology Group for interpretation and communicate results appropriately.
• Establish and maintain closed loop workflows to ensure providers and patients receive timely screening and diagnostic results, including follow up testing when indicated.
• Collaborate with the Population Health team to manage mammogram registries and outreach initiatives.

Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, state, federal, radiation safety, and infection control standards.
• Maintain departmental licensure, accreditation, inspections, and site visit readiness.
• Oversee and participate in departmental quality assurance and quality control activities.
• Coordinate with outside regulatory agencies, including the Massachusetts Radiation Control Program and the American College of Radiology.
• Maintain imaging equipment and report equipment concerns promptly.
• Ensure staff complete required annual competencies and evaluations.
• Complete annual BMC positioning evaluations and quarterly quality control competency testing.
• Maintain a safe patient care environment and ensure proper use and storage of equipment and positioning aids.
• Report unusual incidents, hazards, and patient concerns to leadership appropriately.

Leadership and Management
• Supervise, mentor, orient, and support Radiology staff.
• Develop monthly staff schedules and oversee payroll processes.
• Ensure adequate staffing coverage during all department operating hours.
• Conduct staff evaluations, coaching, and corrective action as needed.
• Coordinate requests for radiologic services and workflow assignments.
• Ensure adequate inventory and supply management.
• Collaborate with radiologists and Boston Medical Center Quality teams regarding imaging quality and operations.
• Recommend equipment upgrades, replacements, and workflow improvements.
• Serve as liaison between Radiology and other departments to improve communication and coordination.
• Attend departmental and organizational meetings, including Urgent Care meetings.
• Support community outreach initiatives and special events, including Breast Cancer Awareness activities.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Skills

A valid certificate in diagnostic radiologic and mammogram technology, and at least 4 years of experience in radiologic technology is required. Candidate must be creative and flexible and must have the ability to accomplish goals. Bilingual Haitian/Spanish a plus.

Previous supervisory experience required.

• ARRT (R)(M) certification required.
• Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist license required.
• Valid certification in diagnostic radiologic technology and mammography required.
• Minimum of 4 years of radiologic technology experience required.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Epic, PACS, and Hologic systems preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills required.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment.
• Bilingual Haitian Creole or Spanish preferred.

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods (at least 50% of the time)

· Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and load onto shelves

· Visual acuity sufficient for frequent reading and computer use

Pay Range: $87,360.00 to $136,094.40 Annually. Compensation is commensurate with years of experience.
