Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Clinical Decision Unit

Location

Charleston, SC

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days (3x12 Hours, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | Rotating weekends and holiday rotation required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a short-stay unit serving ED boarders, bedded outpatients, PACU boarders, and observation patients
• Manage new and direct admissions from the Emergency Department under medical-surgical service lines across a variety of diagnoses
• Deliver short-term treatment and observation care with the goal of discharge or transfer to inpatient units
• Maintain a patient assignment ratio of 1:5
• Float within scope of practice to meet facility needs as required
• May be asked to fulfill charge nurse responsibilities based on unit needs

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1.5 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Active South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license (SC walk-through licensure process available)
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records
• No first-time travelers accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior charge nurse experience
• Experience in observation, short-stay, or ED overflow unit settings
