The Warehouse Associate (Sorter/Unloader) plays a critical role in daily warehouse operations by ensuring incoming donations are unloaded, sorted, and processed efficiently and safely. This role involves handling a high volume of goods, organizing materials for future distribution or sale, and maintaining a clean, orderly workspace. The position is well-suited for dependable, hardworking individuals who enjoy physical work, pay close attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. By handling donated goods responsibly, the Warehouse Associate supports both operational success and broader mission-driven goals.
Responsibilities
- Unload incoming trucks safely and efficiently, ensuring all donated goods are handled with care.
- Sort donated items by quality, category, and destination to prepare them for distribution or sale.
- Organize and stage materials for future processing, storage, or shipment according to standard procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including regular housekeeping of workstations and shared spaces.
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols while performing all warehouse tasks.
- Assist with picking, packing, and packaging items as needed to support warehouse operations.
- Handle general labor and material handling tasks, including moving, stacking, and arranging products and donations.
- Support basic warehouse inventory activities, such as identifying, labeling, and tracking items.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily productivity and accuracy goals.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers regarding workflow, issues, and safety concerns.
- Perform repetitive tasks with consistency and attention to detail, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Adapt to changing priorities and tasks throughout the shift to support overall warehouse efficiency.
- Physical stamina and endurance to perform frequent lifting, bending, and movement throughout the shift.
- Strong attention to detail when sorting, handling, and organizing donated goods.
- Effective time management and efficiency to handle continuous workflow in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team to achieve shared goals.
- Clear communication skills to interact with supervisors and coworkers.
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to following safety protocols and guidelines.
- Basic awareness of inventory or logistics processes.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and directions from supervisors.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and consistent attendance.
- Flexibility to work weekends and varied shifts.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistency and maintain focus.
- Positive attitude and problem-solving mindset.
- Experience operating basic warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, conveyors, and balers (preferred).
- Experience with material handling, picking, packing, and general labor in a warehouse environment (preferred).
- Exposure to or experience with forklift operations (preferred).
- Familiarity with warehouse inventory processes and packaging tasks.
- Willingness to learn new processes, equipment, and systems.
- Comfort working in an active, non-desk role that requires continuous movement.
You will work a structured schedule with consistent hours, providing a dependable income and predictable routine. This role offers an excellent entry point for those looking to start or grow a career in warehouse operations, logistics, or distribution. You will join a supportive environment where teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect are highly valued. The position allows you to build transferable skills in logistics, organization, and equipment handling that can support long-term career growth. You will also contribute to a mission-driven organization that creates positive community impact through the responsible handling of donated goods. For individuals who prefer active, physical work over a desk job, this opportunity provides engaging, hands-on responsibilities each day.
Work Environment
This role follows a 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. schedule in a fast-paced warehouse setting with continuous activity throughout the day. You can expect exposure to varying temperatures depending on the season and warehouse conditions. The work involves frequent lifting, bending, and movement, along with moderate noise levels from equipment and machinery. You will operate in a team-based environment where responsibilities and goals are shared across the group. The organization maintains a strong safety-first culture, and you must adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines at all times. Daily tasks involve handling a wide range of donated goods that may differ in size, weight, and condition, requiring care, adaptability, and consistent attention to safe material handling practices.
