Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Qualifications:
- Hold or be eligible for ME DOE State Licensure (282 certification–conditional certification considered)
- Possess current CHRC (Maine DOE Background Check) clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required; advanced degree a plus
- Prior experience working with individuals with diverse learning needs, preferably in adaptive or life skills environments
- Strong communication and organizational skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, families, and service providers
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered learning atmosphere
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging lessons and individualized instruction for students in adaptive life skills classrooms at both middle and elementary grade levels
- Create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) aligned with each student’s strengths and needs
- Collaborate closely with general and special education teams, therapists, and families to support student development and progress
- Monitor and document student growth, providing regular updates to stakeholders
- Adapt and modify classroom materials and activities to ensure accessibility and meaningful participation for all students
- Foster a safe, respectful, and encouraging classroom climate where every learner feels valued
