Associate Scientist – Process Development
Overview:We are seeking a motivated Associate Scientist to support process development efforts for large molecule drug substances, with a strong focus on vaccine-related programs. This role will be responsible for designing and executing experiments, optimizing downstream processes, and supporting the development of polysaccharide intermediates and drug products.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career scientist to gain hands-on experience in process development, scale-up, and GMP manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and execute laboratory experiments to support process development initiatives
- Perform chemical reactions and purification of polysaccharide intermediates and drug substances
- Optimize downstream processes to improve efficiency, yield, and product quality
- Analyze and interpret experimental data to drive decision-making
- Ensure all activities adhere to SOPs, regulatory standards, and scientific best practices
- Support process scale-up and technology transfer into GMP manufacturing
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory documentation, including batch records
- Author technical reports and summarize findings for cross-functional teams
- Collaborate with QA, Regulatory Affairs, MSAT, and Analytical teams to support development and regulatory activities
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field
- 0–2 years of experience (industry or academic lab experience considered)
- Strong understanding of laboratory techniques and equipment operation
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment
- Exposure to process development or pharmaceutical/biotech industry environments
- Experience with HPLC, BMR (Batch Manufacturing Records), and SEC (Size Exclusion Chromatography)
- Familiarity with GMP standards, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines
- Experience training others on laboratory equipment and processes
- Chemistry and analytical techniques
- HPLC and SEC
- GMP and batch documentation (BMR)
- Data analysis and troubleshooting
- Process optimization
- Laboratory-based role working with chemicals and biological materials
- Ability to lift and handle materials up to ~40 lbs
- Requires standing, repetitive motion, and use of laboratory equipment

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
