Job Title: Avionics Technician
Job Description

This role supports a diverse fleet of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including C-130s, Citations, 737s, and CH-47s, by performing complex avionics maintenance, troubleshooting, and installations. The Avionics Technician ensures aircraft systems operate safely and reliably by inspecting, testing, fabricating, and installing avionics and electrical components in accordance with technical documentation, internal procedures, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test complex aircraft systems to verify full operational functionality and airworthiness.
  • Assist in diagnosing mechanical and avionics components and systems, including engines, hydraulics, flight controls, and fuel systems, using technical manuals, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify aircraft discrepancies and document all corrective actions in a clear and detailed manner.
  • Fabricate avionics and electrical parts and assemblies in accordance with applicable manufacturing drawings and manufacturer’s maintenance and installation manuals.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and maintenance manuals to support accurate installation and repair activities.
  • Work within the quality system and standard operating procedures to deliver products that conform to the approved type design.
  • Ensure all installations comply with internal standard operating procedures and applicable FAA regulations.
  • Use sound judgment and strong technical skills to determine the order of work, select appropriate techniques, and perform effective troubleshooting.
  • Identify non-conformances and potential counterfeit parts, resolve discrepancies efficiently, and work to maximize quality while meeting project deadlines.
  • Plan and execute avionics installation projects with accuracy, attention to detail, and technical expertise.
  • Communicate with peers, leadership, and manufacturers in a timely, effective, and professional manner to support ongoing projects and issue resolution.
  • Ensure the use of appropriate, effective, and calibrated tools for all maintenance and installation tasks.
  • Perform regular cleaning and preventive maintenance on machines, tools, and equipment to maintain reliability and safety.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility standards.
  • Travel and deploy as needed to provide field support for aircraft operations in a variety of locations.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned to support maintenance, modification, and operational requirements.
Essential Skills
  • At least 10 years of avionics maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
  • Proven avionics installation experience on fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in avionics and electrical systems, including the ability to diagnose complex issues using technical manuals, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience with heavy maintenance on aircraft avionics systems.
  • Ability to run, comb, and clamp wiring harnesses accurately and efficiently.
  • Previous avionics and electrical systems experience on aircraft from major manufacturers such as Lockheed Martin and Boeing.
  • Familiarity with leading avionics brands, including Garmin, Becker, Collins, Honeywell, Cobham, and Technisonic.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and maintenance documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a quality system and follow standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills to determine work sequencing, techniques, and troubleshooting approaches.
  • Ability to identify non-conformances and potential counterfeit parts and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with peers, supervisors, and manufacturers.
  • Capability and willingness to work in the Thermal / Palm Springs area and to travel for field support when required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience planning and executing complete avionics installation projects from start to finish.
  • Background in supporting both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft in a maintenance or modification environment.
  • Comfort working with complex, multi-system aircraft such as C-130s, Citations, 737s, and CH-47s.
  • Experience working within FAA-regulated environments and familiarity with regulatory compliance for avionics installations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records of maintenance and corrective actions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a motivated, team-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing operational requirements, locations, and schedules.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $48.00/hr.
