Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days (3x12 Hours, 7:00–19:30) | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holidays required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit with strong post-surgical competencies
• Manage a patient ratio of 1:6, with flexibility for higher ratios when support staff are on site
• Float to other Medical Surgical, ICU, and ED areas to accept Medical Surgical patients as needed
• Perform and manage a broad range of clinical skills including telemetry remote monitoring, wound care, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and IV/PICC line management
• Administer blood products, heparin, insulin, and PCA; manage feeding tubes, surgical drains, and colostomy care
• Maintain isolation precautions and provide non-invasive airway management including high flow nasal cannula and oxygen delivery systems

Required Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Minimum 1.5 years of Medical Surgical or PCU experience
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Demonstrated competency in post-surgical nursing care
• Ability to float to Medical Surgical, ICU, and ED environments as needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and port access
• Proficiency with chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac) and wound vac therapy
• Comfort working in high-acuity environments with variable patient ratios
