Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights (12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15) | 36 or 48 hours per week | Every other weekend required | 13–26 week contracts

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct inpatient nursing care for a combination adult medical-surgical and surgical stepdown unit with a 1:6 patient ratio
• Monitor, interpret, and manage cardiac dysrhythmias; utilize Rapid Response Teams as appropriate
• Administer blood products and manage central and peripheral lines, surgical drains, wound vacs, chest tubes, NG tubes, and other specialized equipment
• Care for a wide range of surgical and trauma patients including post-operative, oncology, vascular, and trauma diagnoses
• Perform and assist with wound care, wound vac management, isolation precautions, and non-invasive airway management
• Float to like units as needed and participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of surgical unit experience
• Active RN license in NC or a Compact state
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Proficiency with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, surgical drain management, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
• Experience with Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Chest tube management experience (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• Prior travel nursing experience
