Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description

This role supports a heavy industrial manufacturing operation by safely handling, moving, and preparing materials using overhead cranes and manual methods. You will work in a flexible, hands-on position that involves measuring, drilling, cleaning, and staging materials to ensure efficient production flow.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret work orders and follow oral instructions to determine which materials or containers need to be moved or delivered.
  • Drill materials and clean poles as needed, adapting to a variety of tasks in a flexible, hands-on role.
  • Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Measure materials to be sent to the burn table with precision, including measurements down to 1/16 of an inch using a tape measure.
  • Move product and scrap materials to chip bins and trash containers as needed, keeping the work area organized and clear.
  • Operate overhead cranes to handle large industrial materials, ensuring safe lifting, movement, and placement.
  • Support general labor and production activities as required, including manual material handling and unloading.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and rules, consistently employing safe working habits in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to ensure materials are available and staged for upcoming work.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including proper storage and handling of tools, equipment, and materials.
Essential Skills
  • Proven overhead crane experience in a heavy industrial material handling environment.
  • Demonstrated heavy industrial material handling experience, including large and bulky materials.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure, including measurements down to 1/16 of an inch.
  • Experience in general labor and production support within a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, carrying, and unloading materials by hand.
  • Capability to follow safety guidelines and consistently employ safe working habits.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Machine operation experience preferred, especially for future opportunities after direct hire.
  • Experience working with overhead cranes as the primary material handling method rather than forklifts.
  • Familiarity with non-climate controlled manufacturing environments.
  • Flexibility to perform a wide range of duties, including drilling, cleaning, unloading, and general production support.
  • Comfort working with large industrial materials and equipment in a busy production setting.
Why Work Here?

You join a growing industrial operation that offers clear pathways for advancement and long-term career development. Starting in a hands-on material handling role, you have the opportunity to move into operator positions and eventually into lead or supervisory roles after direct hire. The environment values flexibility, strong work ethic, and safety, giving motivated individuals the chance to learn new skills, take on more responsibility, and build a stable career in manufacturing.

Work Environment

This position is based in a non-climate controlled manufacturing facility, where temperatures and conditions vary with the seasons.
