Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to support a contract assignment based in Wolcott, New York. This Contract position will play a key role in strengthening day-to-day accounting operations, improving consistency across core financial processes, and providing hands-on leadership in a largely in-office environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to guide month-end activities, reconciliations, and audit-related preparation with confidence.

Responsibilities:
• Direct month-end accounting activities, ensuring financial records are finalized accurately and within established deadlines.
• Maintain oversight of the general ledger and review entries to support complete and reliable financial reporting.
• Prepare and approve journal entries, account analyses, and supporting documentation for routine accounting transactions.
• Perform detailed account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding balance issues promptly.
• Coordinate audit support by organizing financial schedules, responding to auditor requests, and validating supporting records.
• Evaluate current accounting procedures and recommend practical process improvements that strengthen control and consistency.
• Provide accounting guidance and operational oversight to help establish effective workflows and standard practices.
• Support a predominantly on-site team environment while managing records and documentation that rely heavily on paper-based files.• At least 3 years of accounting experience, including responsibility for oversight of core accounting functions.
• Demonstrated expertise in month-end close, general ledger management, and account reconciliation.
• Experience preparing journal entries and reviewing supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Familiarity with financial statement audit preparation and responding to audit-related requests.
• Ability to assess existing accounting processes and help develop structured, repeatable procedures.
• Strong analytical skills with careful attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Comfortable working primarily in-office, with limited remote flexibility of up to 1–2 days when appropriate.
